Is Your Child Going to ESL Camp in Canada? Here’s Their Guide to Montreal!
Each weekend at Destination Canada is filled with fun trips and activities. During the first weekend of your child’s stay, they’ll go on an Ottawa city tour as well as explore Canada’s famous Museum of Nature. During their second weekend, they’ll learn about Canada’s history with a visit to Upper Canada Village and see Canadian wildlife at Park Omega. And, during their third weekend, your child will get to visit Montreal, one of Canada’s biggest cities.
Montreal is often referred to as Canada’s cultural capital because of its thriving arts scene and multitude of interesting shops and restaurants. What will your child see during their visit? Here’s a closer look at some of the best spots in Montreal to visit during the summer.
The Montreal Biodome Lets Your Child Discover Four Distinct Ecosystems While at English Summer Camp
Montreal’s Biodome is a one-of-a-kind way to experience the diverse ecosystems found in the Americas. During their visit, your child will get to experience the warm humidity of a tropical rainforest, the habitat along the Gulf of St. Lawrence, a Laurentian maple forest, and even see penguins in the polar ecosystem exhibit.
Each of these four habitats is recreated inside the Biodome, which houses over 4500 animals from over 200 different species, including the following:
- Canada lynx
- Capybara
- King penguin
- Red piranha
- River otter
- Southern two-toed sloth
With so many different animals to discover, the Biodome is a must-see for all young nature lovers at English summer camp!
Shopaholics Will Love Montreal’s Sprawling Underground City
Montreal’s “underground city” isn’t technically a city, but this sprawling underground complex of tunnels, shops, and restaurants might as well be. The underground city is a huge network of interconnected malls, metro stations, museums, and even universities. It spans a total of 32 kilometres and provides access to many of downtown Montreal’s best shopping malls.
Explorers are connected to over four shopping malls as well as the largest food court in North America! If your child enjoys shopping, this will be a fun experience during their time at ESL camp in Canada.
Old Montreal: A Top Waterfront Destination for Kids at ESL Camp in Canada
Montreal’s historic Old Port district near the St. Lawrence River is a top summer destination for visitors and locals alike. From paddle boat rides to zip lining, the Old Port makes for a wonderful fun-filled afternoon. During their visit, your child might explore the fun mazes at SOS Labyrinth, enjoy the Clock Tower urban beach, or simply shop along the Old Port’s famous cobblestoned streets.
The Old Port is also the home of the Montreal Science Centre – a favourite for any child interested in dinosaurs, animals, inventions, and much more.
