5 Fun Sports Activities Your Child Can Try While they Attend ESL Summer Camp

At Destination Canada, your child will get to learn English in small and friendly classrooms under the supervision of experienced Canadian teachers. And while these supportive and fun classes will give your child the opportunity to improve their English, it won’t be the only time they use their language skills while they attend ESL summer camp. Far from it!
At Destination Canada, all of our fun trips and activities – from visiting wildlife parks to museums and more – take part in English. Your child will get to spend time outdoors, make new friends from all over the world, and maybe even learn to play a fun new sport or two this summer. Here are some of the athletic activities your child will be able to participate in this summer to keep fit, make friendships and have fun.
1. Your Child can Swim at Carleton’s Olympic Pool While they Attend ESL Summer Camp
Destination Canada is located right on the Carleton University campus, meaning that your child will be able to use many of its state-of-the art facilities while they attend ESL summer camp. These facilities include a tennis court, soccer (football) fields, and even an Olympic-size pool. During their stay in Canada, your child will get to use Carleton’s pool during supervised swimming activities.

Each evening after dinner, campers can swim or play water games – among many other fun activities.
2. Would Your Child Like to try Canadian Football this Summer?
In Canada, your child will soon learn that what the rest of the world calls “football,” Canadians and Americans call “soccer.” Here, when Canadians say football, they are referring to the sport known as Canadian football.
Canadian football is very similar to American football, which is famous for its annual Superbowl game. Like soccer, it has two teams and two goals, however players can carry and throw the ball in this type of football. They score what is called a touchdown by passing or running the uniquely shaped ball into the other team’s end zone.
3. Your Child Can Play Soccer at Language Summer Camp
Of course, Destination Canada also includes football/soccer in its afternoon sports activities. Each afternoon after classes end at 3:30pm, campers get to enjoy the outdoors and participate in a number of fun activities. They can play tennis, basketball, and soccer (known as football in other parts of the world) – often a top favourite among campers at English language summer camp!

4. Your Child Can Try Yoga at ESL Summer Camp
If your child would like to learn yoga this summer, then they’ll be happy to know that this is another popular activity at Destination Canada. Each afternoon from 3:30-5:30pm, campers have a wide variety of activities to choose from, including fitness and yoga!
5. Your Child Can Try Ultimate Frisbee This Summer at Camp
Ultimate Frisbee is another fun outdoor activity that your child might be interested in trying out this summer. It’s a popular sport on university campuses like Carleton, and is a fun non-contact team sport that uses a Frisbee instead of a ball.
