The 4 Levels of Proficiency Your Child Can Learn at English Language Summer Camp

Destination Canada campers show off their certificates during their graduation ceremony
If you would like your child to improve their English this summer, then enrolling them in a top summer camp might be a perfect way to help them feel confident speaking their second language. English summer camps like Destination Canada help your child feel welcome in an international environment. Your child will get to meet friends from all over the world, discover Canadian culture, enjoy fun weekend trips, and more. In addition to these fun activities, they’ll also receive 25 hours of English education a week, so that they can improve their English in a fun and relaxing setting.
Our small class sizes are carefully supervised by experienced university-educated teachers—all of whom teach in Canada throughout the school year. That personalized instruction will help your child develop their language skills. And to match them with the level best suited to their abilities, we also provide a low-stress pre-assessment of their current language level.
What are the language levels we offer, and which level would be best suited to your child’s language proficiency? Read on to discover the four levels offered at Destination Canada.
Level 1: For Children at English Summer Camp Who Have Some English Proficiency
While Destination Canada doesn’t offer language classes for beginners who do not speak any English, we do offer beginner classes for students still at the early stages of their English education. If your child has some proficiency in English, but would like to move beyond simple conversations and reading and writing exercises, then level 1 might be the ideal place to start.

Our small classes and friendly teachers help your child feel at ease speaking up in English!
Level 1 is suited for children who demonstrate some understanding of written material and can communicate in easy-to-follow conversations, but might not yet be ready to engage in in-depth discussions on a variety of topics.
Level 2: For Children Who Can Answer Questions on a Range of Topics
If your child feels comfortable communicating on a wide variety of topics in English, but might still need a little guidance on grammar and sentence structure, then they might enjoy Destination Canada’s level 2 classes.
Through these classes, campers learn to develop their skills so that they can feel at ease reading independently, and learn to provide detailed answers to questions during their stay at English language summer camp.
Level 3: For ESL Learners Who can Read Independently
Level 3 is best suited to children who feel comfortable interacting in their second language and who can read independently. They can engage in classroom discussions, and can read and write clearly and in detail.

Campers learn to take their English language skills to the next level
Through their English classes at Destination Canada English summer camp, these ESL learners can further enhance their language skills so that they can take their English to the next level.
Level 4: For Advanced ESL Learners in Need of an English Summer Camp that Challenges Them
If your child reads independently, feels comfortable expressing their opinions through conversations, and can engage in a wide variety of topics in English, they might be ready for an English education that offers an extra challenge.
At Destination Canada, our level 4 campers feel at ease communicating in their second language, but might still need extra guidance to truly feel fluent. Through fun but challenging exercises, debates, presentations, and more, they can take their language skills even further!
